Biography: I received my MA in German from Warsaw University in Poland, and my Ph.D. in German Literature and Translation Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. As a graduate student at UT, I taught German, Swedish, and Polish. Prior to joining the faculty at Texas State University in 2011, I taught high-school German in the Austin area and organized student exchanges via the German-American Partnership Program.

In addition to teaching all levels of German at Texas State, I also supervise student teachers in modern languages. On behalf of our Modern Languages department and together with my colleague Kayla Hill, I coordinate the Texas State German Contest, a state-level scholastic competition for high school students. During summer, I serve as the Academic Program Director for our Summer Study Abroad programs in Vienna and in Munich.

Research Interests: My current research focuses on Habsburg Galicia as a mythical multi-ethnic Arcadia. I am particularly interested in investigating how this 19th century myth has resurfaced after the fall of Communism to shape the national consciousness in Central and Eastern Europe.
