Curriculum Vitae

Biography: I earned my MA in German at the University of Georgia in Athens. After teaching German as part-time faculty at Kennesaw State College (now: University), I moved to Texas and began doctoral studies at The University of Texas at Austin in Germanic Studies. In addition to teaching first- and second-year German at UT-Austin while a graduate student, I also taught German language and literature at all levels at Texas A&M University while finishing my dissertation. I joined the faculty at Texas State University in the Fall of 2005, and successfully defended my Ph.D. dissertation the same semester. I was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2007 and have taught German language, literature, and culture at all levels since then.

I have also worked as departmental webmaster for Modern Languages at Texas State since the Fall of 2011. I currently administer two active websites, one for Modern Languages and another for the Spanish MA program, and created the website for the Texas Medieval Association Conference 2015. I am working on a redesign of the Modern Languages website, a French at Texas State site, and a German at Texas State site. Finally, I also administer the Modern Languages Event Calendar and the official Modern Languages at Texas State Facebook page, and am a co-manager of the German at Texas State Facebook page.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my daughter, singing karaoke, tabletop gaming, good beer, and nerdom in general.

Research Interests: I am primarily interested in the intersection between pedagogy, culture, and literature in the upper-division classroom.
