Robert Fischer received his Ph.D. from the
Pennsylvania State University
in 1975. He has spent his entire academic career at
Texas State University where he is now Professor of French and Linguistics.
He has been Chair of the Department of Modern Languages since 1984. He
has published in the areas of Applied Linguistics and foreign language
technology. His area of focus is the development and use of authoring systems
in Computer-Assisted Language Learning. He has conducted over 50 workshops
on the Libra authoring system.
He currently serves as the Executive Director of the Computer-Assisted
Language Instruction Consortium (CALICO), www.calico.org,
an international organization devoted to the use of technology in foreign
language learning and teaching.
