Dr. Robert Fischer

Biography: Robert Fischer (Ph.D., Pennsylvania State University) is a Distinguished Emeritus Professor of French. He served as the Chair of the Department of Modern Languages for almost 30 years. From 1997 to 2011, he also served as the Executive Director of the Computer Assisted Language Instruction Consortium (CALICO), Editor of the CALICO Journal, and Series Editor of the CALICO monograph series. He obtained over $1,000,000 in grant funds to support research and development projects in computer-assisted language learning.
Research Interests: Dr. Fischer’s research interests include language learning in general and, in particular, questions of instructional design and learner usage of pedagogical components in computer-assisted language learning.
