Valladolid Summer Session II

What you will learn

This total immersion program in the Spanish language and culture will provide students with a comprehensive approach and authentic language environment to continue the development of proficiency in Spanish through study and communicative practice. The program is designed to develop all language skills within a Spanish cultural framework.

The City of Valladolid

Valladolid is one of the main cities of Old Castile and the capital of Castilla-León. It was founded in the Middle Ages, and after it hosted the marriage between Queen Isabella of Castile and King Ferdinand of Aragón, it became the capital of Spain until 1561. With a population of more than 400,000 it has become an important urban area, and while it maintains its rich history and culture, Valladolid boasts a vibrant social life. Valladolid may not be one of the main tourist locations in Spain, but it has some very prevalent cultural aspects making it a wonderful location to learn the Spanish language. Valladolid is known for hosting some of the most prized chefs in Spain and it hosts some of the best tapas competitions every year. The city contrasts traditional, modern life with a beach, sports activities, and important museums such as the Cervantes and Columbus museums and one of the most important oriental museums outside of Asia.
