Undergraduate Courses in Japanese (JAPA)

1410 Beginning Japanese I. (4-1) Introduction to listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills within a Japanese cultural framework.

1420 Beginning Japanese II. (4-1) Continued practice in listening, speaking, reading and writing skills within a Japanese cultural framework.

2310 Intermediate Japanese I. (3-0) An intermediate-level course continuing development and review of all language skills in a Japanese cultural framework. Prerequisite: Japanese 1410 and 1420 or consent of the instructor.

2320 Intermediate Japanese II. (3-0) An intermediate-level course with continued practice in all language skills in a Japanese cultural framework. Prerequisite: Japanese 2310 or consent of the instructor.

3304 Advanced Conversation and Grammar I. (3-0) A course designed to strengthen advanced skills of writing and grammar in a Japanese cultural framework.

3304 Advanced Conversation and Grammar II. (3-0)) A course designed to strengthen advanced skills of reading in a Japanese cultural framework. Reading materials include history, customs, arts, religions, politics, and social matters.

3307 Composition in Japanese (WI). (3-0) A course designed to strengthen advanced grammar and writing composition skills. Four written papers in Japanese.

3308 Business Japanese. (3-0) A course designed for learning business-related vocabularies, for the reading of documents related to Japanese business practices.

* All of the classes listed above offer valuable cultural information through personal instruction, videos, readings, and other media.

** All Japanese classes are offered everyday throughout the week.
